Somewhere along the way, we lost our ability to feel safe in the present moment.

As babies, we thrive in the present moment. We begin to develop our awareness as we honor our natural physical and emotional cycles. We then encounter our own experience of trauma, and with this, the disconnect and simultaneous lesson.

It is the disconnect from feeling safe, content, or even neutral, in the present moment itself.

How We Disconnect From the Present

Within this moment of trauma, even if it’s a split second or ongoing…

We force our consciousness out of the present and into the past, where we could’ve changed something in order to “prevent” the trauma from happening.

Or into the future, where the moment is very much “over” for our mind and body.

Living a Fuller Life = Presence

Whether this is a heavy or lighter instance on our psyche…

In our body-mind, it remains unhealed and unexpressed, as healing and expressing both happen in the present. Due to this, we feel more “comfortable” living in the past or future because our subconscious believes these are the actual safe spaces.

Yet, this inhibits us from living a full life. We catch glimpses of the real present moment, and they can be incredibly sobering, almost as if we’ve entered another dimension. And we have.

Living in the “less real”, disconnected feeling of the past or future becomes our normal, and the true, centering present, a memory.

Where the Magic Lives

The real present is where the magic lives, and there are many moments, people, and places that can tune us into this realm.

It is a place that can most accurately be described by the elements of space, water, fire, and earth, which are all designed through the lens of love.

It is ideal to manifest from, because there are no limiting beliefs attached from our past, and no expectations nor distrust of our future.

It is simply our divine blueprint, free from the limitations of external reality. Just love, authenticity, and trust.

Being in the True Present Moment

A practice: start by slowing down and observing the breath. Breath in for 4-5 seconds, hold it for 3, and release it over 5-6 seconds. Focus on releasing any tight/fearful grips of the mind.

For extra benefit, immerse the self in the ever-supportive energy of nature, whether it be physical or imaginative.

Although our past can seem complex, being in the present moment really can be as simple as we choose.

Sending love,

xx Ali
